Dr. Araslanova specializes in facial paralysis rehabilitation, craniofacial reconstruction as well as aesthetic facial plastic surgery.
Dr. Araslanova graduated with a University Medal and Honors in Microbiology and immunology from Dalhousie University. She then obtained her Medical Degree at the University of Ottawa. Following medical training, she completed an intensive, five-year surgical residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Western University, leading to board certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and then the American Board of Otolaryngology. Dr. Araslanova then completed a highly coveted Facial Plastic and reconstructive Surgery Fellowship at the prestigious Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, NY. There, she had a unique opportunity to train with world-renowned reconstructive and aesthetic surgeons, further advancing her training in the comprehensive management of facial paralysis, including full spectrum of surgical reanimation. After fellowship, Dr. Araslanova was honoured to receive the prestigious Jack R. Anderson Prize for Scholastic Excellence, an award for the highest score in North America on board examination administered by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Soon after she was named Castle Connolly Top Doctors Rising Star in NY Metro area.
Dr. Araslanova holds an academic appointment of a Clinical Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell with numerous scientific publications and presentations within her field of expertise. Her research interests include improving quality of life following facial reconstruction, as well as refining our understanding and consequently management of facial paralysis. She is an active member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Sir CharlesBell Society, American Head and Neck Society and AO Craniomaxillofacial. She serves on the Medical Advisory Board of the Little Baby Face Foundation, providing pro bono surgical care to children with craniofacial birth defects.
